Zhang and Sun 2004, 215, fig. 64.
The figure and halo were carved from one piece of stone, with the circular halo attached to the back of the head. The lotus petals surrounding the head are carved in low relief. The expression on the face is a frown of deep concentration. There is some damage to the right side of the nose and the upper lip. The hands support the bottom of a cylindrical reliquary. The base on which the figure stands is bowl-shaped, which would have been set into a depression in a pedestal or on the altar of a cave.
This disciple figure appears to be a pair with the Ananda in the Berenson collection at the Villa Itatti, Florence.
Zhang and Di believe that this is not from XTS caves.
